SUMMARY: Astronomers from the European Southern Observatory have found a whole new population of massive newborn stars inside a giant molecular cloud near the centre of the Milky Way. Inside the cloud are four massive stellar clusters with young stars as large as 120 times the mass of our Sun. This region, called W49, is one of the most energetic star forming regions of the Milky Way, and the recent observations help astronomers better understand how these regions form.

Hi Frazier These recent observations certainly makes me wonder at the relationship between Black Holes (whatever they might be beyond present theory) and their effect on the galaxies that surround them.
Perhaps black holes are not the destructive monsters they have been made out to be, and even perhaps share only a likeness to that dense matter often left over from huge imploded stars. After all, we know so little of dark matter.
Galaxies formed early in the universe, so what we call black holes had to be there first.
We have a lot to learn beyond present theory and the more we observe of our galaxy and the surrounding universe the more mysterious it all becomes. Astronomy is the one field in which theories can often change on a monthly basis.
Its great fun though, just waiting for the next new discovery, and nowadays these seem to be happening almost on a daily basis.
