    Bad Astronomy II

The Further Adventures of The Bad Astronomer

An overlooked but obvious follow up to
    "Bad Astronomy":

    "Dangerous Astronomy"

That sounds like the title for a bad summer action movie:

When an international terrorist organization plans to attack Washington with an asteroid, only one renegade astronomer knows the truth. And only he can stop them. Philip Plait stars in... Dangerous Astronomy!

    Good ones, centsworth_II and Lycus!

There was a movie called Dangerous Moonlight, but the title was about the only thing that had to do with astronomy.

Hmmm, perhaps that title could be used for a new chapter on Hoagland, et al? 8)

    centsworth/kucharek:

Read the FAQs and revise as appropriate. Remember, the use of "***"s to replace sections of unacceptable words is also frowned upon.

I used to work at a Catholic high school whose motto was 'Omnia Omnibus' - supposedly meaning 'Opportunity for all'. I preferred my translation, which was "Always the bus".

I like your thinking, but, more simply..."The Worst Astronomy". You have to be "Badder than Bad".

You may want to try combining good and bad, using the "bad" as "bad examples". Then it might be "Good and Bad Astronomy" plus throw in the audio CD for a few books more and do what Bryson did.

kucharek, whom were you quoting? That's in bad taste, and I'd prefer it were edited out.

What about charging a few bucks for an audio download version of the orignal? I still have not heard your voice BA. Most everyone has a burner now and there is, likely, some service that could accomodate this idea. You might want to add a bonus section of recorded Bad Astronomy sessions you recently have added to the forum.

I paid about $30 for Bryson's 5 cd's and I am now on my 3rd round. For those who travel, like me, it beats today's music and talk shows.

Re: next book: un-official title contest...

Here are the next six books (a couple are slightly revisionist):

Bad Astronomy I: The Fandom Menace
Bad Astronomy II: Attack on the Clowns
Bad Astronomy III: Mirth of the Astronomer
Bad Astronomy IV: A New Scope
Bad Astronomy V: The Cosmic Umpire Strikes Back
Bad Astronomy VI: Revenge of T Tauri

("Back" might be replaced with "Bart" as appropriate)

Not to douse this topic with cold water, but the next book already has a title.

And yes, you can ask. But no, I won't tell.

Hey, BA, what's the title of the next book going to be?

    (What? He said we could.)
