    Sorry to point this out, but the article is a little odd. It says:

    Whatever the application, these preliminary experiments are proving to be highly successful and may revolutionize some aspects of space- and terrestrial-based technology.
    But the article only mentions the testing of space based applications in space, not developing any new processes in space. Testing space based applications in space is something that has been going on the a long time without revolutionizing terrestrial-based technology. What's different this time to make a revolution for people on the ground?
