Unhappy Pursuit for Somewhere I Belong

(Pretty long one. I typed everything that came to mind. So, its kinda like a intro post I guess)

Hey, I'm Tech Roach. I know its weird but I prefer to keep it that way. I mean, whats in a name, right ? And yeah, I'm a little sticky about privacy. So, thats me.

Right from my childhood (even from 6 years old), I've developed a fascination for space and science. Back then, I used to sky watch and read a lot of science books (and yeah, watch Dexter's Lab... oh crap).

I'm really interested in Physics and Astronomy and technology too. But I had a dark period in my life. I don't know what came over me. I was really out of focus. I was doing things which I didn't really really want to. Like blogging about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). I was good at it and perhaps thats why I kept receiving $200/month from it.

And, I managed to fit in with a Webmaster Forum and really liked the people there. I really belonged there. You see, I meditate a lot. And one day, I saw the vision of my dreams going away into the dark.

So, I decided to pull myself together and live the life I really want to. But, a lot of problems happened to me that actually left me wanted to suicide (cyberstalking ) and now, I don't have a forum to fit in and no buddies.

I'm in the look out for like minded forums. Actually, I like small and humble startups but what the hell ?! I love Universe Today and Bad Astronomy Forums blogs. So, I said to myself, "well, lets give it the old-school shot".

So, here I am. Actually I'm kinda nervous to expose so much info. But I guess you can understand how unstable I am. I somehow feel life isn't that exciting. Its like, you know, feeling empty. Oh here we go again. So, I'm gonna gag myself to stop all this yapping.

Anyway, I don't why I posted this. I mean, what am I expecting as a reply ? Oh craps, I really need to get control of myself.

Welcome indeed. I think we're mostly a friendly bunch, and I promise you that you're not the only unstable one around here. Do remember to read the rules, and I hope you stay awhile.

    LOL!

It's a good thing this is an internet group, where the bloodshed is merely virtual.

But herein frequent some of the smartest, geekiest people on the planet, so things are always entertaining and enlightening.

Yes, very good reason. The only other forum I occasionally visit is the World of Warcraft forums...talk about going from one end of the IQ spectrum to another. Appropriate that it's abbreviated as Wow.... anyway, yes Welcome to BAUT, Tech Roach.

What big post? Seriously, around here anything that isn't at least two screens worth of text doesn't count as big.

I haven't been run out of town by an angry mob yet, and my long posts tend to ramble aimlessly. See my three consecutive posts in "1 Percent of American Adults in Jail" thread for proof. :-P

Can't say I have seen anything aimless but I can say you have some of the funniest posts I have ever read.

Solong as you mean my humble attempts at humor and not my humble-er attempts at seriousness, that's a great complement. Thank you.

Yeah and it looked cool, but the lack of PvP was a turn-off, and it seemed like the questing was largely like Guild Wars, with quest areas being seperate instances instead of a large overall game-world.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Guild Wars, before I got into WoW, but one is an MMO, the other is basically a single player game with a bunch of other people in it.

No wai hehe. There's PvP in there now. Not only that, but there's PvP guilds. You can declare war on other PvP guilds, and at that point everyplace is a PvP zone for the duration of the war. I've joined one such guild. It's a new game, and I joined a new guild, and I'm already considered the PvP "heavy" for the group

#EDIT: Didn't take ya for a PvPer, Fazor. I'm delighted to find one of us in the midst of Baut

Not to hijack the thread further (oh who am I kidding, Hijack is my middle name)...

Well, I'm not so much into PvP as I am into the opinion that a large, massively multiplayer universe with opposing factions, I think it's criminal if the opposing factions cannot go to war with each other. It's nonsensical and detracts from the game.

Does Tab Rosa have a trial period? I've been wanting to check it out since launch, but have been too involved in WoW. Kinda at a lull at the moment, so could give it a look.

I don't believe they do, Fazor. Unfortunately. When I got the game, I shelled out forty bucks to buy it, and it of course came with a free month.

The class and skill system is kind of nice, and I like how the crafting system works. Mind you, it doesn't have the details and sheer number of zones that WoW does, but they are adding lots of stuff every update and are quickly expanding. They're already talking about raising the level cap to 60. It'll be interesting to see if they add another tier of jobs to the tree. Here's how it works:

At level 1 you are a "Recruit". You get some basic skills you may invest in. Firearms (pistols, rifles, shotgun), motor assist armor (long explanation), and a few other bits. At level 5 (which you can attain very shortly after the tutorial quests), the job tree splits. There's Soldier, which further splits into more "pwn" oriented job classes, and Specialist, which is service oriented, but still can pwn extremely well. At 15, the trees split yet again! Soldier splits into Commando and Ranger, and Specialist splits into Sapper and (forget).

Now here's the part I like: You can earn "Clone" credits in the course of certain missions and when you hit a new tier. Before my job tree splits, I create a clone. I have the first go in one tree, and the clone go in another. No need to go through the whole tree for each final class. If I screwed up a character, I'll earn me a clone credit and rebuild him.

I got my first two (due to clone before split, of course) final tier jobs last night. I went from Recruit -> Solider -> Ranger -> and at the final split got me a "Sniper" toon and a "Spy" toon. I enjoy the heck outta them both. The sniper toon is built for PvP, and does not use sniper rifles. (Long explanation). The spy toon is built for assassinating players, pure and simple.

... now that I think about it, we might wanna take this to PMs or open a new thread.
