Back to high temps around 90F and dry conditions, and of course the Atlantic is stirring things up with Dorian now figuring out where it wants to go.

Sunny about 25 C, breezy, maybe a good day to pull some potatoes or pile some wood.

Cloudy, some showers, might go in the wood shed and move some wood around later.

A warm upper 80's today with lower 90's predicted for tomorrow. Might get some heavy rain, or none?, when Dorian passes by off the Va SE coast 2 days from now..

  7. #6877
A couple of more sunny days and then looks like what is left of Dorian will hit the Maritimes, at the moment it will mostly effect Nova Scotia, hopefully won't to bad here there is another auction coming. I think the company is in the caretaker in voyager phase of existence, they are not travelling as far anymore so they doing the spots closer to them faster and faster.

Today sunny but the clouds are moving in, a few small right now, trying to get ready for Dorian, we'll just get some rain and wind. Trying to get as much wood as possible, picked some pears, more potatoes and probably some more stuff. Been going so long I have to do the rest without cell phone because it has to charge.

Well Dorian passed by off the coast and far enough out that we got only 0.18" rain. That being said I'd much rather have drought conditions rather than a flooding windy storm. Mid 80's the rest of the week a with slim chances of showers mid week.

  11. #6881
Dorian will probably hit Halifax or just west Halifax, looks like 80 mm of rain and up to 50 kph winds here, going to real fun load and unloading the truck for the auction tomorrow.

Well we got some rain and wind it is clearing out now. Saint John some trees blew down and in the morning hit least one car, and got a warning form one of the people at the auction company falling trees because his wife warned him. Not a big turnout but some stuff sold and I bought some stuff including 8 glasses I really don't need and agreeing to help some one sometime to move a dresser they bought at the last auction. Seen I few thing from Halifax including a crane coming down in a construction site.

Just listened to the news, about 450,000 customers in Nova Scotia has had some power outages and about 74,000 in New Brunswick, so probably the total number of people is probably higher, NS pop. about 966,000 and NB is about 800,000 and in Nova Scotia the military has been called in to help. Some places had about 150 mm or 6 inches of rain. A friend I follow in Halifax says, "There is going to be a lot of scrap metal. Not that bad here nice cool breeze today, and over the last few days I have waled like 57,000 steps and I am pooped and sore so maybe some reading and computer stuff.

Major storm last night, with at least two tornadoes touching down. Doesn't sound like any loss of life or even severe injuries, but there are some homes and businesses with substantial damage.

Still very dry and very hot here, 95F expected today and that puts a real strain on the newly planted fall veggie garden. Have to shade the transplants by mid day to prevent wilting in the heat. Another tropical question mark may slip up the coast over the next few days, hopefully to deliver some rain without the winds.

After a thunderous night with just a sprinkle of rain, today is cloudy at 75F with a little drizzle, but at least the heat is taking a break....it returns to the 90's by Monday. Catching up on outdoor chores during this cool break.

  25. #6895
Sunny low 20's C breezy, ran out of gas while splitting wood so close to be done get more gas later, now just piling what has been split. Somedays this job seems a bit like zenos paradox.

Today was once again in the 90's but the rest of the week will be cooler around 80F. Still no rain in sight, without our deep well the fall veggie garden would be dust now. Fighting off the grasshoppers which like it dry out there.

    Storm in the Gulf!

TS Imelda is just off the coast south of the Brazosport area. It should track north through the Houston area tonight and tomorrow.

I checked our backyard rain gauge about 6:00 last night. It maxes out at 5". It was maxed out.

Fortunately for our area the rain has been plentiful but spread out. That's 5" over about 10-12 hours. Our drainage system can handle that.

(I thought Dorian gave you some rain.)
