Thread: Your current weather?

It got up to -10 C today and brought in some wood, now doing laundry it is a good way to keep the pipes from freezing. Newfoundland got blasted with snow and tomorrow a small system just bringing about 10 cm of snow is coming here. Looks like all of Canada is feeling winter this week.

Yikes Torsten! I won't complain (too much ;-) either with our first predicted dip into the teens (F) of the season coming up this week. I guess the bright side for you there is when you tell someone it's 40 below you won't have to specify F or C

Well we got 15-20 cm of snow today, reading, writhing and watching movies like most of the Back to the Future series been mostly off the internet.

I know that feeling. With the thermostat located near the centre of the main floor of the house, when it gets really cold outside all the rooms with outside walls equilibrate at a noticeably lower temperature, despite the forced air heating vents being located near outside walls and windows.

Though I can handle 68f if I am under a comforter or am active.

I have lived in places where it got really cold (Anchorage and mid west) but I don’t think I would do well in such places in winter any more.
I keep my house much cooler than that. I have the opposite challenge - when it gets warm, for the first few days I feel like I'm going to wilt. I'm hoping I don't ever feel the need to move to a warmer climate because winter temperatures become too difficult to handle. I'm impressed by the really old people I see outside when it's in the -20sC, and that gives me hope.

Somewhere in this thread, a long time ago, I posted a picture of a thermometer at -40, and someone asked if that was C or F. I laughed out loud when Gillianren responded "Yes".

It's probably colder where you are now than where I am, where it was just above freezing overnight. So, a 50C range in temperature in a week. I will forever marvel at both inter- and intra-seasonal temperature ranges in this part of the temperate zone...

Whew! Tried to do some fruit tree pruning today and got chased back inside, windchill probably in lower teens.... a warm spell for some folks here ;-)

Suppose to be just above freezing or at freezing for the next few days, and we have a good layer of snow on the ground so perfect for doing a few outdoor jobs I might do those.

About 10 C the freezing rain was actually rain, I should have brought in some wood but there is probably a days worth left should use up what is there.

Unseasonably warm. I’m expecting bumper crops of ticks and mosquitoes. Why do they seem to do so much better after a too-warm winter than the things that eat them?

After a couple of weeks of lovely weather with maxima in the high 20's C & low 30's C we have had another hot spell. Yesterday was around 36 C and today was very hot at around 40 C. Luckily it is dropping to around 34 tomorrow and then back into the high 20's.

Well it started off cold and clear, took a day off the interwebs. Went to my nieces last hockey game of the season, they lost the game but they already made it to the playoffs.

Well this morning started at 7:00 am after only getting a couple of hours of sleep woke up to about -10 C waether and cloudy skies, got my oatmeal and got readt to go into the auction. Got there right behind the truck to unload and started to unload. Here is the thing there was also a surprise birthday party planned for my sister, right about when my break from setting up to the auction. So after calling mother to pick me up and to take the car away from where the party was, it kind of has a distintive paint job only two cars in town have it. Then drove around for a while grabbed a sandwich because nearly 5 hours of moving furniture and stuff. And then went back to the part for a few minutes and had to be driven back because mom needed the car for a fundraising hockey game. She drooped some of the left over sandwiches from the party at the auction after it was down. They let me go early and I went to subway with a duffle bage that had flower pots, a few small bottles of coke and a couple of other things I got at the auction and sat there until the Hockey game was over and now I am home and the last kilometer looked the viewscreen on startrek because it was snowing. Soon time for sleep.

Sunny and near 60F today, did some touch up staining on the front screened porch. Tomorrow should hit 70F and still sunny. Getting the chili ready for tonight's Super Bowl game. No favorite here so the underdog will do.

It is a pretty common "truism" here that the weather always get hotter when the summer school holidays end and the children go back to school. This week seems to support that belief. Yesterday, their first day back, saw a maximum of just over 38 C and today was just under 43 C with a minimum expected overnight of 25 C. Tomorrow is forecast to be around 36 C before it starts to cool off a bit. Luckily, most school rooms are air conditioned these days.

As I type this post at 9:15 pm it is around 34 C and I have just come in from a quick dip in the pool.

It is about 5 C out and sunny with some clouds coming in. I should go out and do someething before the storm comes in at the end of the week.

Sunny and clear here for now but in the morning the snow will begin. It is not just snow but there might be freezing rain and rain mixed in over two days. It could be worse we haven't got much snow yet some places have had up to 200 com of snow so far. And the fires are still going on down under and my province is sending 14 forest rangers to hel fight the fires.

Just getting past a few days of storms, now around -8C to -6C with some wind chill down to -15 C and most of the week around the freezing point, and of course when the auction comes back Saturday it will be back to -12 C.

Very windy here yesterday with power outages all around, we just had a few blinks but no loss. Trees down in many areas and these winds were on top of 2.5" of rain. Sunny and colder today. Saw in the news where Antarctica hit its highest temp ever recorded at 65F, plus the Great Lakes are still 95% ice free with rising waters flooding shorelines.

First big snow in upstate South CArolina. Had to quit working on the outside of the house and come in, ground is too slick to stand on. Snow was very late this year.

Trees are still bent over. The full moon shing thru the ice on some tree branches was amazing. Saw some bits on the news there were about 1250 car accidents in Quebec including a 70 car pile up outside of Montreal. A day of sun then more snow off and for most of the week, weather forcast can change fast.
