That was the most rain I have ever seen in one hour, about 3 or 4 inches. A neighbor on the street alongside the creek has a portable basketball hoop standing on the edge of the street in front of his house. The base holds 40 gallons of water for ballast when in use, so it must weigh over 400 pounds. About 6 inches of raging flood water dragged it about 300 feet before the flood started to subside. It remained standing, showing that it is obviously very stable. Nevertheless it was graphic evidence of the danger of trying to wade or drive through the water under such conditions.Originally Posted by Hornblower

A depression entered the Gulf yesterday near the FL panhandle and will almost certainly become TS Barry tomorrow. It likely will be a Cat 1 hurricane before it makes landfall Sat/Sun. The current best guess track has it landing in SW La.

The last 4 or so days have been beautiful here. Clear blue skies with light winds, minimums of 7 - 9 C to maximums of 20 -22 C. Superb winter weather. However, showers are due back tomorrow - with slightly lower maximum temperatures.

Nope not here for sure, will water some things deeply in the early morning and pick a few things before I get too soaked by 10:00am. Will be glad to see that cool front early next week too as well as (hopefully) a good rain which is greatly needed locally.

Hottest!....but this should be the upper limit, temp reached 104F on the back porch, had to come inside earlier today at 9:30am. Starting to feel like a prisoner in my own home. Mid 90's expected tomorrow and then 80's the rest of the week.....brrrr
