We had a "cool" front mover through during the middle of last week. It dropped the humidity below 60%, even into the 30s for a time, and kept the high temp below 90. At the end of the week we started getting off shore winds again and the humidity went back up.

On Sunday our part of town got 1.5" of rain.

On Saturday we had gotten 1.6".

On Friday I had watered the lawn.

Back to the mid 90's here in Va, muggy goes without saying. Looks like a stretch of stormy days ahead Thurs-Sunday but we do need some rain as August knocks on the door.

Another muggy hot one here, yesterday Fredericton got the highest temps in Canada at 33 C. Looks like there might be some rain and storms coming tonight to cool things off, the garden could use it too, plus when it cools off it better to get stuff done outdoors.

Well we got the rain and more. A few minutes before 6 pm last night we got a quick storms, well I heard it coming in for a at least an hour before hand. Lots of lightning and thunder, wind and rain. So much wind in fact we lost power until like 4 this morning. Several trees got blown over, one about 500 m from here hit a telephone pole and snapped the pole, oh also a couple of house up from me a trampoline ended up in the power lines. Of course this is when the battery on my cell phone went. An extra bonus this morning the water didn't come on with everything else, so had to figure what had happened to that. Eventually tried a little switch on the side of a switch to the pump a few times and got the water running. Now finally laundry was going to do last night and getting ready for a trip to a military base this evening to see my niece at a ceremony there.

Recent rains all over the place around here but just sprinkles on us, some got 3-4 inches just a couple of miles from here. Getting dryer, high temps hover around 90F daily. At least the Atlantic hurricane season is still quiet and according to the weather guys it should remain quiet for at least 2 more weeks. Seems that all the atmospheric punch is focused in the eastern Pacific for now.

Today it started off rainy and foggy when I left to unload the truck for the auction tomorrow. So I took may rain jacket with me, it cleared off around 11 am and really getting warmer by 1 when we finished. Then walked over to my sister where my youngest niece was but more interested in the movie she was watching so after half an hour went to subway where I person I went to high school was, then walked up to get some coke and razors went back and forth between a couple of stores and finally got picked and drove home. And of course walking around with my rain jacket on a sunny afternoon.

Sunny, breezy and warm, yesterday someone got the gator stuck in the bushes so this morning the BIL and I got it out. Then he went and got some hydraulic oil for the wood splitter and now it runs so I guess I know what I will be doing for the next few days.

We finally got a decent rain yesterday at 1.5 inches. It is just in time to soften up the soil for prepping the fall veggie garden. I tried to shovel up/cultivate a row 2 days ago and it was like concrete out there. Temps will remain around 90F for the next week or so with little chance at more needed rain.

99F here yesterday, that's actual temp and not the heat index which was about 10F higher. A violent storm is passing to our north right now about 5 miles away. Close but no exploding cigar......could use the rain though.

  25. #6865
A foggy wet start to the day, probably keep it a bit cooler while loading the truck up down by the river.

Sunny bit of a breeze, light duties kind of day laundry and picking stuff. A couple of zucchini, some squash, a couple cucumbers, beans and a beet the size of softball. Some of it is probably going with the turkey in oven.

The Sweet Virginia breeze has returned!...or rather a nice Canadian breeze gets the credit. Perfect upper 70's weather for planting the remaining fall crops with 2 mild and cloudy days ahead to allow the transplants to get acclimated. We took our tricycle built-for-two for a spin today and it was so nice not to get sweaty for a change.
