    I would have put it differently. These features were originally thought to have been normal parabolic dunes found in many parts of the world. A few voodoo scientists suggested recently they were formed by megatsunamis on the basis of specious reasoning and igorance of basic geomorphology. This was never accepted by geomorphologists in general.
