    maybe this should be in the conspiracy section, but here goes..

    tin foil houses.
    i wonder if they are impervious to the alien/government/illuminati mind control rays?

    ...stainless steel that's roughly the thickness of tin foil...

    actual readily available "tin foil" has been made of aluminum for years- even "tin" cans are made of steel- so stainless steel could be considered an upgrade..

    "Tin" cans have always been made of iron or steel. The tin is a plating to prevent corrosion.

    Regarding the OP, it doesn't appear there was any intent by the designer to provide protection against "mind control"; just an innovative construction method for what I'm guessing are intended to be temporary buildings. I'd have to wonder how they'll hold up in a high wind, however. They do look pretty cool.

    Back on the mind control topic, it occurs to me that many types of insulation have foil backing as a vapor barrier. Perhaps we're already "protected".
